I was watching a video and the computer BSOD and started back up, didnt think anything of it
Tried to play Star Wars: The Old Republic and it kept crashing on launch, tried to open the Nvidia Control Panel to make sure it was running on the discrete card and it cant be detected, checked in Bios and it says that its "Not Detected"

    Please help me fix this

Try reinstalling the Intel \ Nvidia drivers from the Dell support website, I know these are the most basic ones, but this will tell you if one of your GPU's have fallen off the face of the earth or not. if all works with the base drivers, then download and upgrade to the newest ones.

Intel GPU is NOT a discrete GPU because it is build inside the CPU, so you dont have to reinstall the Intel Driver plus you (OP) said when you click on the NVIDIA control panel and it report not detect, that's mean either the driver is corrupt or the BIOS's, so my suggestion is to reinstall the NVIDIA driver and If that doesnt work, then reflash your BIOS, because for me I used to get that problem lots of times, and the reason to that is because of overheat.

tried installing drivers and it wouldnt allow it as no hardware was detected, so reflashed bios and reinstalled drivers and we are good to go

pretty damn annoying tho since it wasnt even having to work hard to play the SD video, ive run it wayyy hotter gaming and got no errors or anything

    Owell thanks for the help

My GT 540M disappeared and nothing I did would get it to come back. I heard that taking out the battery and holding down the power button for 30 seconds can fix it, but I'd already sent mine in to MSI. Still waiting for it :(

That would also do the trick but either reinstall the Driver or reflash the BIOS is for if you dont want to wait.

I had a similar problem where the driver was corrupted, that error represents a few different types... If none of those help you, I will check back in on this thread periodically if they don't help, then I can somewhat guide you how to fix it... But basically you have to delete ALL traces of Nvidia software on your computer through regedit and add or remove programs...

Yep, I'm having the exact same issue as I tried to clean install updated drivers for my m14x. Now it seems as if the GT 555m has just fallen off the face of the Earth and isn't detected in anything. I have tried reflashing my bios as well as taking out the battery but that doesn't seem to help and I am unable to install any drivers for it either :(

Ok, here we go. I'm pretty sure I forgot a step or two, but the whole thing is pretty easy. Dell tech support WILL be able to help you. But here I go...
1 Uninstall ALL things from Nvidia
2 Look through your Program files and Program Files x86
3 Delete all Nvidia folders found there.
4 Run a driver sweeping utility to get even MORE stuff out of there. I think I used Driver Sweeper.

All right, for this next part, I THINK I had to go into Safe Mode. Not entirely sure, but I know you have to go into safe mode eventually.
5 Click Run and type in Regedit
6 Delete Nvidia file from HKEY_CURRENT USER>Software>Nvidia Corporation
7 Now open KLEY_CLASSES_ROOT and find all Nvidia files there and uninstall.
8 Reinstall an Nvidia driver at this point, and it might be detected, if you uninstalled all the files, and assuming I didn't forget a step.

I'm pretty sure something is missing in there, BUT it is a good outline, and a call to Dell will get it fixed, tell them to get rid of ALL traces of the driver, since it was corrupted. I hope I helped at least a little.
