I primarily use my headphones for audio with the Windows volume on maximum. If I accidentally unplug my headphones, my music will bang out of my laptop speaker which could be very embarrassing in some moments.
So my question is: is there a way to disable the laptop speakers?
Or is there some software that can automatically mute the audio when I unplug my headphones?
    Thanks in advance.

Yeah, go to Start Bar -> Control panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Sound and under Playback tab you should see speakers. Right click on them and hit disable. I would reccomend though, right clicking in the white space and hit show disabled devices. This will let you re-enable them in the future

Thanks for replying. But unfortunately that's not what I wanted. If I do what you say then I will disable the audio entirely from both the laptop speakers and the 3.5 mm audio jacks.
I want to keep the audio only from the 3.5 mm audio jacks. So the audio can only come from the 3.5 mm audio jacks and not the laptop speakers. Even if I unplug my headphones I want that no sound will come from my laptop speakers.

I hope there is a way to do this. It could save me from embarrassing moments!

If you can uninstall the driver and restart you will see there are 3 separated audio device, for that I think you can disable the other two which is the speaker of the laptop and the other is the headphone jack.

I saw this when I mess up with the audio device thingy, so I think this might be what you want to try.

And for me sometime it happen to me as well, especially in a lecture, I usually listen to music while in break, and sometime I accidentally pull the plug which unleash the blast, which is really embarrass when everyone in the room look at you, :D

Yeah, thats what it does when you disable your speakers. So that is what you wanted I think.

    Try it

Youll plug in your headphones, and the sound will go through, then when you unplug it your speakers are off so nothing will come out

a good way also is to just turn on 5.1 and it will disable the speakers but keep audio going out the 3 ports.

This works, but I don't have 5.1 headphones.

This works as well. But it has one side effect. Without the realtek drivers there is no "noise reduction/removal/suppression (or whatever it is called)".
This can be irritating for the persons I am speaking to.

lol, I never think of that, but I think you can eliminate that by using a headset, since M14x also has a mic jack so it might solve this problem.

you dont need 5.1 headphones, if your not playing 5.1 encoded audio it will play in stereo. just make sure you connect to the audio out that has the 2 front speakers and not the rear speakers or the subwoofer + center, and even if you do play a file that has 5.1, if you connected to the right audio out, you'll just be getting the right and left channel = stereo.

I have tried it with both and they both have noise. I think every microphone records background noise and they need a software noise remover to make voices clearer.

Ah yes! Now I get it. I had my audio jack in the second port closest to the microphone port. The sound only came from the center speaker (left channel) and the subwoofer (right channel). Now it's just perfect!
    Thanks, this solved my problem.

But will this affect my games where I need accurate sound? Such as tactical shooters. I use 2.1 headphones.

I just found out that you said about the same thing as CGSDR. I didn't really understand what you meant with the word "them" because I only had one audio device. It looks like you haven't got the Realtek drivers like CGSDR said. I didn't know that at first. But the method actually worked like I said before. But the only side effect I got with it is the absence of noise removal.

it shouldnt affect them, as the right and left channel are stereo, and would act just like if you had the speakers set up in stereo mode. i have mine set up this way and it works good!

You could always take your speakers out and sell them to me :)

Give you 75 bucks for the set w/subwoofer

For that he'll have to tear apart his machine to get that subwoofer because when the technician replace that subwoofer for me, I saw he tear everything out, obviously the easy part first like HDD, DVD ROM and Battery, then keyboard and the skin of your laptop which seem quite hard to take it off though.

Eventually after keyboard and the skin chassis is out, then you see the subwoofer.
