So I just received my m14x r2, and noticed that the alienfx lighting is dim on the left side of the "ALIENWARE" logo on the screen, as well as on the spacebar and the honeycomb shaped things on the front. Is anyone else experiencing this? Also, there seems to be no bass since the subwoofer doesn't seem to be activated. Any help would be appreciated.

I believe you are using the advance theme from alienware command center. Try basic and all the light should be displayed equally.

I just checked, I'm still using the basic theme. The spacebar and honeycombs are still very dim compared to the rest of the lighting :\

I also just noticed that the vent at the back is not installed correctly - there is too much of a gap which allows me to see the inside of the computer. Also, the speaker grill is slightly cracked and dented inwards. Do you think this will qualify for a replacement?

I think you should call Dell and get a replacement shipped to you. It should be pretty near perfect when you receive it.

Yeah I just called them and told them about the issues. They said they will send me a new replacement, and I can hold onto my current one until then. I just hope the new one doesn't have problems lol.

I just called them also and they're sending me a replacement unit. I hold onto the current system until then.

    I had the following issues:

    1. Bottom plate had bad scratches and dents at the seams where it meets the laptop body. Looks like someone tried prying it with a screwdriver.

    2. Palm rest had a stupid blemish as if someone put a needle to it with pressure. I had the tech come in and replace the palm rest and he was *suppose* to replace the keyboard. The work order had even specifically mentioned the keyboard.

    3. The keyboard has a bad squeaking noise when typing on various keys.

    3. Keyboard has dim lighting.

My unit has the i7 3610qm, 6gb ram, 2gb nvidia gt 650m, and base specs besides that.

The crack on the speakers was bad, but the vent and grills were perfectly normal. I can see that small gold bar and everything from the vent, and mine has always had scratches on the grills.

The squeaking keyboard problem has been around since the R1. It eventually goes away.

Good to know. The squeaking does not bother me too much but the damage on various parts of the unit body is rubbish. I paid about 1400 USD for it and I shouldn't be having silly cosmetic problems like that..

I can't see that much through the vent. It seems to be okay compared to the OP
