Okay I have two hard drives my main drive intel 320 120gb SSD in the caddy in the optical drive stock seagate drive.

Now I updated the firmware on the Seagate drive (wish i never did) at start up I get this loud beep everytime and it says "Non-system disk, press any key" once I press a key it boots as usual. Why is it checking the Seagate drive first (I assume that's whats it's doing.)

How do I get rid of this annoying beep everytime I turn on my computer?

The OS in on the SSD.

    Thanks for any help

Check your boot priority in BIOS and set it to your SSD to the first position.

Okay I'm not 100% on how to do this in the first screen when I press F12 the boot priority appears first then it goes in

    1. Hard Disk
    2. CD/DVD
    3. Network

When I selected hard disk it just begins booting again.

When I go into the BIOS set up, the hard disk I see is my intel ssd and its greyed out and I cannot select it.

    FIXED

Going to write a short explanation for reference for anyone who possibly stumbles upon this topic with the same issue.

SYSTEM SETUP: Intel 320 120GB SSD + Seagate stock Momentus 750GB in caddy in optical drive location

PROBLEM: After trying to apply Seagate firmware (This firmware is on the m14x Dell site, I also believe it's a recommended update.) It causes the system everytime at boot up after the Alienware Logo screen. You recieve a loud beep and the error message "Non-system disk, press any key", after presssing a key, then system would boot as usual after this.

SOLUTION: Go into system repair then open the command prompt and use the command "bootrec /fixmbr"

Below is some details about startup repair:

"Startup Repair is one of the recovery tools in the System Recovery Options menu. This set of tools is located on your computer's hard disk and on the Windows installation disc."

NOTES: If you have two hard drives in your m14x I personally WOULD NOT try to do the firmware update. This is what worked for me I cannot say it would work for others. Also, there is risk in doing this so proceed with caution.
