So today i had a dell tech coming around to replace the stock cooler since my cpu was overheating.Somehow he ended up swapping my motherboard which i still dont understand why.

Everything was going fine and he even placed some ic diamond 7 on both gpu and cpu since i asked him, but after that things started to take a turn to the wrong side....

He basicly did not know how to put computer back together and now i have a chassis that is creaky, not secure and opens at minimal force next to the fake vents.
On top of it i also have a scratch on the subwoofer grill and that same grill and the black one around the keyboard is wonky and not put right.

As i turned my laptop on it took ages to boot, for me then to find out that the dvd drive no longer reads dvd and shows as a cd drive.
Everytime i have a dvd or cd inside it the laptop no longer boots and hangs at bios screen.

So im going to phone them tomorrow and ask for a new replacement.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

Call them back out. Its like a band aid. Faster you pull the faster its off. Call them fast and get it over with.

Just call them and explain the situation

A few months back, Dell sent a technician over to swap my m11x mother board for overheating.
After three hours of dismantling my computer and trying to put it back together the ALIENWARE logo under the screen wasn't working anymore.
I called Dell and they sent another tech two days later to fix the mess.

Dell doesnt has a fixed service centre, so they will send over a technician whenever a customer call. Like when my subwoofer's replacement they rang me up for an appointment and replace it in front of me.

Dell subs out to 3rd party tech's,some who never saw an alienware before, like my nightmare.Call dell don't take any i'm sorry runaround(which you will get)and tell them you dont trust another shoddy repair from unqualified techs.Ask for a replacement instead.Be nice but firm.I have a new m11x and m14x instead of having a tech for the same reason.

First tech they sent to my house did a great job but the second one had no idea what he was doing.... he brought the instructions with him and was reading them as he went, when he left the front grills were not well set so i had to click them into place and when I took the bottom lid off I was missing one screw :(

I'm not too confident in Dell's customer service; their craftsmanship is pretty decent, but their support is often lacking. I received a model that had to undergo some changes after assembly - it came to my house with three (3) fully cammed-out screws. I had to spend a good half hour slowly working my way through them without breaking off the threads. Dell's service reps only said that they were sorry and then asked me if I had any other concerns.

Sorry for your trouble is Dell's mantra.....I heard I'm sorry 25 times,Be persistent I can't stress enough, they will make it right, if you make them.I had a horrible tech as I said, after he left I called Dell got the runaround heard I'm sorry every time someone got on the phone,I said I will NOT except another repair. They said it's not policy to give new products for repairs, when I showed them a thread post from this and their own forum,a manager called back and like magic all the Im sorry we dont do that policy, was gone and I was getting a better specd unit.It all depends who you get on the phone.I wouldn't let a mechanic work on my car after he left my wheels loose.I know it's not the same but you get the ideah.Don't give up,I know more people that got replacement's on the 1st or 2nd repair.

I should add when you take into account the problems you go through just to reach that level, and how much we spent back then, heck I spent 4000 us for a intel p4 single core with a 256gb 6800 ultra gpu and an 80 gb hdd,17 in 1080 lcd.I remember my friend spent over 7k for a voodoo. Those were the days! You definitely get alot for your money today, that's tech for ya.
