Which states does Dell charge sales tax in?

I live in Florida. Do I have to pay sales tax on my M14X?

Yes, cheaper.. 6.5% in broward county.
I used to live there. Now I am in Los Angeles, and sales tax is a killer 9.5 or 9.75%

I can confirm Dell charges tax in Georgia, California, Texas, and Florida. According to the rep I was speaking with, they tax almost every state.

Shipping to the University of Kansas (or my friend's house) in Lawrence, Kansas would have cost about $140 (it might have been $104, but I think it was $140) in tax. Shipping to my house in St. Louis, Missouri had a tax of $69. Pretty easy choice there.

5% in Wisconsin. if you do the math, a 30% discount at 5% tax is effectively 26.5% discount. Remember, you are taxed on the discounted total. so its going to be a bit better.

The only states where you wouldn't be subject are ones that don't have a sales tax on the books: Alaska, Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire, and Oregon.

Nobody in the USA has the right to complain about sales tax. Us unlucky Brits are stuck with 20% sales tax, on top of how much it's already overpriced. I'm just glad I'm overseas. (I could buy an M14x through HIDevolution, base except upgraded screen, their thermal paste, 1 year advanced warranty, and with MSOffice 2010, and get it shipped here, and it'd STILL be cheaper than the base price for the M14x in the UK!)

In any case, does anyone know if you get charged any taxes at the American end if you order through HIDevolution? Or would it only be at the local end once it's arrived at whatever country you're in?

I don't believe so, but you could always contact Ted from HIDevolution and find out.

Dell charges taxes in the following states (google search):

    > Texas, Kentucky, Nevada, North Carolina, Tennessee, Idaho, Ohio, Virginia,
    > Illinois, Pennsylvania, Missouri, California and Florida.

Note: This was a 2008 post. Things may have changed since then.
