We are always told by Dell reps to use the video drivers they have available on their support site (which are usually several versions below the latest ones). Anyone know if these drivers are actually inherently different to the ones you get from the Nvidia support site or is it just that those are the ones that have been tested and confirmed by Dell to work with the M14x? I ask because i usually get the ones from the Nvidia site because they are much newer and seem to have some performance advantages

Same goes for other components like the Killer Wireless-N 12-2 card... can get them from Dell or the Killer support site...

Strange: with the Nvidia drivers I get the problem that the M14x won`t shut down / turn off completey. Windows is shutting down, screen gets black but AlienFX stays. I have to hit the power button for some seconds to turn off the M14x.

The issue with the video drivers specifically is that this computer has Optimus and the drivers from nVidia might or might not work well with it. As struseliz says you might experience weird issues so it's better to stick with them.

Yeh I had never thought of that. Well seeing as how with the 314.14 ones I'm getting ridiculous throttling in SWTOR (from 835MHz to 135 in a matter of seconds after hitting 68 degrees), I suppose ill reinstall the dell ones and see how they go
