Don't know how much is it related to here. Sorry for offtopic anyway.

I received my m14x a week ago, it didn't start up.
It came with usps from the USA, then opened at the local post in Europe for customs. There is a clear damage on the box, visibily made after local post resticked the box. Now dell changed the HDD and ODD under warranty, but still. The post damaged my computer.
Can i ask for some kind of refund from the local post? Or can i blame the original owner, for not packing it right? It was in a way too small box, not enough padded and so on.

Well, most likely my guess is the post is the one who you have to complain on, because they do the handling, not the original owner. But the original owner can also have responsibility too, but unless the laptop itself is damage. If it is external (the packaging) then it is the post's fault, but if it is internal (the laptop) then it is the original owner.

The person you bought it from should have put insurance on it, I know I do because that person has to see you receive it in as sold condition. If you bought it off Ebay you have buyer protection to help. If there is no insurance and no Ebay then you can only hope the seller will make good.

well the fact is that is costed me nothing, since dell replaced everything under warranty.
So what can i claim from the post of the original owner?

ps: the box is damaged (probably got it at the post), but when i opened it the laptop it wasn't working (either from the hit at the post, or got it before)
