    hi guys,
just wondering if you can help me with my m14x. the dvd drive suddenly disappeared and fn + f6 wont eject the disc that i have previously inserted. device manager is not showing the drive, looked for the hardware changes option and there was no result. bios is also not showing the dvd drive under boot option. and on regedit, there is no upperfilter or lowerfilter so i dont think that is what caused it either?
    any suggestions?

    cheers

sounds like the cable connecting it to the mobo came loose or the disk drive is dead. If you don't feel comfortable stripping the machine down, I'd call dell and see if you can get a disk drive replacement. :)
