Whenever i seem to put a disc in the dvd drive it makes a huge loud sound and sounds as if something is grinding against metal. I dont think it scratches my disc but just wondering if this happens to everyone... if not i better call Dell :(

No you need to call dell, and dont worry they will replace the DVD drive with a new/refurbished one if your lappy's under warranty. and stop using the drive as of now as the vibrations might damage the HDD which is seated right next to the DVD drive

It is normal. Slot loading disks do go in with a real solid clunk. My macbook pro did exactly the same..............was convinced they sounded like they were snapping when you put them in.

If you think yours is bad, I'd just go into a shop with a disk and pop one in a macbook. You kinda get used to the cringeworthy noise. It just dosent sound right :)
