Nice find, pal! +rep Curious how much of a differemce it makes compared to my 1866Mhz PnP? Hope it'll aslo support PnP, so you don't have to bother with OC and system support)

This could make gaming on the IGP an acceptable alternative on battery power. Of course, one would want to get the 2720QM so the IGP would turbo all the way to 1300Mhz (instead of 1100 on the 2630QM).

Insane!!!! I was considering the 2630QM but now seeing this, I can't help but agree that the 2720QM is not just faster, its more future proof! Damn!

    REP + ! Thanks!

Seriously, gaming could be more can acceptable and still conserve battery life.

this is probably not the PnP one, PnP comes with grey heatsink, this one is simply xmp enabled, so you can choose what you want with it :D

by the way, have you tried oc-ing your 1866 stick ? I have the same ram, but still waiting for my m14x :D

Well My g/f has the 2630 in her M14x and it runs at 1600 Mhz....

But I doubt it'll be able to do 2133Mhz,

If you just ordered it see if you can call and change it.

    2820 FTW :)

How much performance gain does it translate to compared to 1333?

According to the article, it says

"If the OEM configures Kingston's DDR3-2133 or a user upgrades by himself, he or she will be able to count on significant improvement in systems performance: from 20.8GB/s to massive 33.32GB/s of system bandwidth."

But it doesn't state what they are comparing it too...

    My 1600 Stock runs at 21.5 GB/s ..... 33.32 GB/s is about 50% faster O_O

Might as well, its another 150 bucks or whatever. I was going to get it, but everyone was telling me the 2630 was more than enough, should have stuck with my gut eh?

The only viable reasons to get the 2720QM are VT-d, AES, and the higher turbo on the IGP. If you need any of these, get it. If not, skip it.

Or if you happen to do a lot of CPU-bound tasks (like video encoding). The 2720QM is a good upgrade and rarely is it badly priced, but that's as far as anyone should go. The 10-15% performance gain is pretty well documented, but again, it's not something everyone needs.

The 2630 is plenty powerful for the great majority. 2720 for those who need more CPU oomph. 2820 and 2920 are just wastes of money.

I dunno, the extra cache in the 2820 can make a difference in CPU bound activities also. But generally, anybody that needs the extra power of the 2720, etc, knows they need it. Anybody else will probably be fine with the 2630.

    Agreed on all counts.

My problem with the 2820 is the rather dramatic price increase for not as equal a performance gain. I'd say ~$150 to go to the 2720 for 10-15% gains is pretty good. Another ~$200 to go up to the 2820 from there for only another ~5%... Not as good a value proposition.

I think there are a few users here that have reviewed similar sets and if you're gaming on integrated graphics, you'd see a 10-15% benefit in FPS (if you happen to find the reviews, please double check). If you're gaming with a discrete GPU, it's like 0-5% (waste of money).
