    Hi to everybody
I've read some posts here and i noticed a problem/limitation in the alienfx software like turning black the touch pad.

I've solved my problem doing my own code, "coloring" my keyboard as i want.

So I decided to create a small sf in order to change the lights of our alienwares.

The code comes with 3 exes
    LightFx.exe, LighFxEr, and LightFxGen.

for the configuration just run the LightFxEr, the first time it will take longer to run because i creates a configuration file adapted to your machine.(only first time or configuration file missing )

Once loaded you can select the area from the selection box and choose a color. the final color are similar to the one selected and this is an hardware limitation.

Once finished just click apply and wait 5 secs.

in order to make your color layout start at login you must put the LightFx and the configuration file created "lights.lfx" in the automatic execution folder.

You can edit the config file by your own with a text editor.

this software needs the alien commander enabled with 3d party alienfx selected.

here you can find the softwre.

This is a first release, report me bugs or issues.

I will make a better tutorial, but now if somone wants to test it on its machine and report me some feedback I will improve the code.

    Version 0.002

    Note:
I take no responsibility, this is a beta software.

You are the only one who can download files from fileserve that you uploaded. We would need an account for NBR or just upload it somewhere else.

Here's how I turned my track pad black (no lighting at all): Right click alienfx, click quick change, and then choose the black color. This will turn off all your lights. Then go into alienware fx editor and individually change all the lights to whatever you want except for zone 8, as that is the track pad. If you do this, you can choose what gets lit and leave the track pad black/without lighting.

If all you want to do is switch zones to black you can do that really easily by editing one of the saved XML files directly, the colors are stored there as hex values so you just need to use 000000 and that light section won't light up. Figured that out the first day I had my m14x R2.

yep, but not everyone knows this kind of trick..
I think that a simpler and versatile GUIcould help some ppl in doing this kind of stuffs.

If you right-click the Alienfx icon in your tray bar you can uncheck "Enable status zones while in Go Dark", then when you choose to go dark all the lights including the touchpad will turn off.

one thing i've implemented in my gui is the possibility to dim the light as preferred (i've noticed at least 4-5 level of light power ), that is a feature that the alienfx should include in the future releases.

I had played with the software. It was very nice as I could finally set the lighting with my own favourite colour.
But I noticed that the lights are not as bright as it supposed to be. Is there possible to set the brightness of lights?
And I realised the 'M14X chassis' and 'Logo' are bugged.
For example, I choose red for 'M14X chassis' then the 'Logo' will automatically become red as well.
I try to edit the config file manually but I found out that it eventually only have 9 colour zones which is the culprit (supposed to be 10 since you separate the left and right speaker )

And im sorry to ask but where is the the automatic execution folder? need guide on this

anyway two thumbs up for your great effort

    ty ;)

about the light there are some limitations, there are a limited number of colors available, due to the rgb led specifications. If you dim the light you are giving less power to the LEDs so as result you obtain less "light".

about the bug it is strange, try to remove the config file and run the software again, it will create a new file with the configuration of your machine, and the try to edit it by hand or with software. If you can report me so i can check everything would be great!

I think you dont really understand my question well. what I'm trying to say about the dim light, for example I choose white for my keyboard (all four zone) using your software, then I switched back to Alienfx and configure white for my keyboard. Instantly I can notice the lights went brighter with AlienFx.
Thats why I asked why are the brightness seems to be reduced when configuring with your software.

For the bug issues, tried what you said, no luck its still the same. The 'M14X chassis' and 'Logo' only manage to change the colour at the "ALIENWARE" on the screen. No options/ways that can change the colour on the Alien head (power up button)

    ok now i understand,
about the light try to edit the config file, the 4th parameter is the "brightness" of the RGB combination, so change that value with 255 and try to apply.

about the alien head you are right, the Logo is the "alienware" text on the monitor, instead the Chassis is the indicator of the wi-fi etc.
these parameters are generated by the driver itself.

about the power button i must try some stuff and solve this.

Ty for the beta testing ;)

np tried the brightness settings configuration, its works :D

If you said that the "Chassis" is for indicator, then how about the "Status Light" ?
Based on my view, the "M14x chassis" was the one that need to be fixed.

The program itself kinda bugged since it will revert all brightness to 100 for the 4th parameter by default.
On my previous post, I said that " I choose red for 'M14X chassis' then the 'Logo' will automatically become red as well "
    First try:
Now lets says I gave pink for my left speaker, then I go for m14x chassis and I picked green.
After applied, it turns out that the left speaker will become green.
    Second try:
Now I picked orange for right speaker, then go to m14x chassis and picked green again.
It will end up green colour for right speaker.

So I can conclude that the colour u picked for "M14x chassis" will override the last colour you picked before "M14x chassis"
