    Hii,

    I've noticed while playing TESO that my current GPU clock speed is always lower than the default clock. It's often at +- 600 Mhz, whereas my default clock is 797 Mhz (i have a gtx 765m).
    I've made some research, and found this;

    GPU not using max clock speed

    (See the 4th post, by Scpy5).

    I did what he said and tried to start the game. Now the current clock speed is +-900 Mhz.
    It's higher than the default clock speed, is it normal? I mean, isn't this overclocked??

    Better than words, here is a screenshot ; http://www.noelshack.com/2014-15-1397051945-sans-titre.png

    (I used Nvidia inspector to check the clock speeds)

    Thanks!
    (and sorry for my bad english!! :p)

    The new Nvidia cards automatically OC themselves (Nvidia calls it "boost") when temps allow. It's normal for it to run higher than nominal clock speed when it's running cool.

    I recommend OCing to +135MHz allowed by the stock vbios. You shouldn't need a voltage increase an it'll give a decent boost in performance. Most 765Ms will allow you to just drag the slide up to +135MHz and be done, no other tweaking required.

    Isn't it dangerous?
    I mean, i'm a little bit hesitant, doesn't it void the warranty?

    In burn, i have 58-60°C, is it a good thing to oc?

    Thank you!! :)

    Those temperatures are just fine and no, you are not going to void warranty neither to damage your card with just that 135mhz oc ;)

    that 900MHz is the DEFAULT boost clock
    it's supposed to run at this speed underload, as gpu boost 2.0 enables the gpu to change the clockspeed depending on load
    so don't worry

    the "overclocking" we talk here refers to clockspeed higher than 900MHz
    I keep my 765m overclocked to around 1GHz (coz i play some heavyweight triple A titles)

    58-60 C is pretty decent for a gpu, generally you don't have to worry for temp under 80 C

    There's nothing wrong with 60C, that's running pretty cool honestly. With the stock vbios, the card will do everything it can not to burn up. If it starts running warm, it'll lower the clock speed to protect itself. +135MHz is a very mild OC and the 765M should be able to handle it fine. As long as you keep it under 80C you're safe.

    Thanks everyone!! :)

    So I tried the +135 OC with Nvidia Inspector, but when I start TESO or BF3 for example, it seems like the gpu isn't used..
    I mean, the gpu load is 99%, but the temps don't go above 48°C, the clock doesn't go above 650Mhz, so the game is lagging like hell... It's like the GPU wasn't used...

    How is that possible!? :s

    EDIT: I tried to lower the OC to 98Mhz for example. It works fine for 10 mins; the clock is at its maximum speed (992 Mhz), but all of a sudden, it goes down and fluctuates between 400-750 Mhz.... :S

    Here's a screenshot with temps and nvidia inspector pannel;
    • first minute, oc's fine ; http://www.noelshack.com/2014-15-1397214183-overclock-normal.png

    • Then it becomes chaotic ; http://www.noelshack.com/2014-15-1397214196-overclock-pas-normal.png

    When I set the default clocks, everything goes back to normal, games run smoothly, ingame gpu clock -> 901.5 MHz

    Thanks
