Me too contemplating the same.....also what size are you gonna buy...the one for 14" models or the 15-17" models...as I have heard the m14x is more like a 15" laptop

U2 is better because I think 3 fans are useless, I have CM U2 and I'm really happy with it, it fits perfectly with my m14x and it keep it cool.

I measured out the U2 and its the same length as the M14x. It should work well with its two fans.

I use U3 personally, despite people saying U2. Reason being I've placed two fans underneath the two back vents, one on the left and one on the right, and just beneath the touchpad under that area there's also a very very small vent hole I've noticed, so I placed the third fan under there. The price difference when I bought the U3 compared to the U2 at the time wasn't worth me bothering to save, so I went ahead with the U3 for future proofing sake.

this is what i am thinking. i know the u3 is bigger but again it futureproofs me. i just want the best for my new addition

so it actually does its job well. are the fans loud on the U2 and does it reduce the fan noise from the m14x?
    thanks

The U3 is too big for a M14x imo. It will defeat the purpose of buying a 14 inch laptop. If I had a M14x I would go for the U2 because it will fit better to the size of the laptop.

I heard the U3 allows control of fan speed, while U2 does not.

I wasn't aware U2 had no speed control, U3 definitely does though as I've got one. If you're really wanting to save as much space as possible and willing to make one or two future proof sacrifices then get the U2, but U3 I would honestly recommend.

Just got the U2...size wise ...the m14x sits perfectly on the u2 ...placed the two fans on the two corners of the 14x right below the vents...system seems to be running cool.

I have the U2, and while the size is perfect for the M14X, I wouldn't mind having a little larger surface. If I had to do it over again, I think I would get the U3.
