I have an Acer HD Projector but no HDMI cable long enough so I can play connected to the projector. I connected the laptop through VGA cable but I can't seem to put any resolution higher than 1024x768, on my Toshiba laptop I can go as high as 1080p but I stick to 720p, the projectors native resolution.
What could be the problem ?

I already ordered one off amazon but its gonna take 4-5 days to get it probably. I was just wondering why the same vga cable works on my toshiba and not on the m14x.

try disconnecting and connecting the vga... sometimes i get 1024*768 when i boot with the cable is connected.. then i disconnect it when windows booted and running and connect again.. it gets back fullHD... i also notice that i can't display fullHD if i use "duplicate" or "extend" mode.. it seems to have to follow the maximum resolution of m14x which is 1600*900... but thats ok for me cause i'm only using the monitor..

thanks 0204 for the suggestion, it actually worked but I can only get 1024x768 or 1280x720 so I can get 720p and thats it, that might be because im using the VGA cable. I will wait until my HDMI cable comes.
I also have another question for who already tried this. If you connect it to a projector or a HDTV using a HDMI cable on lets say 720p or 900p then does that decrease your FPS in games than playing on the laptops own screen?

    HI!!

Did anyone figure out the root issue here?

I literally will have to return this laptop (just got R2 fresh off the line) if it cannot do 720p via VGA output. It's the only way for me to chain projectors together for VJing.

Currently trying to reinstall windows on an SSD to see if anything changes.

    Help!!

    Thanks

Weird, an old VGA cable solved the issue. i still seem to be losing some pixels on the bottom, but at least i can calm down a bit. much higher rez are available now, and the projector model was detected.
