Basically my laptop came with 2 graphic cards
    1 crappy intel
    1 nvidia (GeForce 555m)

now when i run a game like gta 4
it will automatically use the intel card even though i have set it so that the game uses my nvidia card, it still doesn't
I also put it in the nvidia command center but nothing
this also happened with minecraft and gta S.A

btw im on an alienware m14x and everything is up to date

    Are you sure?

Try installing the latest Intel and Nvidia drivers from their sites

It happened to me before because i was using the old drivers

I do not have a AW but I read that the intel card can be disabled in the BIOS. Turn on computer - press F2 a few times to get in- you should be able to find an option to turn off optimus or the intel card (not sure what it is called) .
