So i want to see if my m14x is full of lint and dust inside the fans and what not and is what causes more heat than usual. I'm not experiencing AS BAD heating issues as some users but i do reach 91 sometimes playing BF3 and BF BC 2 . I've opened computers before but with the M14x i want to be as gentle as possible. Do i just open up the back of the laptop and use a compressed air can while holding the fans so they dont damage themselves?

Or what should i go on about. Is the entire back of the laptop openable?

    Thanks guys.

The back of the laptop IS openable via two screws on the bottom.

Unfortunately, I am not entirely sure if its possible to get at the fans like you want to unless you remove every part one by one and flip everything inside.

I have not personally accessed the fans myself, so I can't tell you more than that unfortunately. The only reason I am aware of the fans being inaccessible without flipping the insides is because of the tear-down guide I found on this forum a few months back. http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...-m14x-disassembly-teardown-upgrade-guide.html

If anybody knows if there IS a way to get at the fans without the serious deconstruction shown in the tear-down guide. . . please do tell!

    EASIEST WAY TO CLEAN FANS:
    1 Open up case, obviously.
2 Unscrew battery and unplug it.
3 stick screwdriver in the fan blades so they can't spin freely. Don't press it into anything.
4 Blow compressed air in through the vent in the back end on the same plane as the charger hole.
5 Reconnect battery and put on lid.
