    Hi,

    I bought Alienware M14x recently.
Can any one help me change the touch pad color to black.
I tried to change though AlienFx.
By selecting 8 which is touch pad and tried to select the black color from the color wheel, but i am not able to select the black color from there, but i am able to select the other colors from there.

Not 100% sure, but I am pretty sure, that you can't select black for the TP. I could be wrong, but I am pretty sure that you can't.

    YUP,

OP to turn off the keyboard hit FN + ALIEN FX/PRT SCRN

Then to turn off the touchpad hit FN + INSERT/T-PAD

    Cheers :)

I think he wants to change the colour to black but keep the function of the touchpad. That's not possible unless you turn AlienFX completely off

Yes, the touch pad light will turn off if you turn off AlienFX (and the touchpad will still work). You can turn off AlienFX by pressing "FN+PRNTSCRN" or right click on the icon on the taskbar and select the "Go dark" option.

In order for you to turn off your touchpad light as well as the keyboard light ....when you go dark ......click on the icon of the alien fx and uncheck "Keep status zones on during go dark" ...this will turn off all the lights on the system..including the tpad..wireless...capslock and power light !!! :D Hope this helps....Cheers!!

I know this is a really old post but i have just received my m14x R2 and was already being bugged by the touch pad light. I found a way to disable it and make it black/off.

If you right click on the alien head on the taskbar (probably hidden by default) and hover over Quick Change option and then select black to turn off all lights. After that you can open up the application and just enable the lights you want and the colour you want ignoring zone 8 for the touchpad.

I did this and all the other lights are back to red with the touchpad still black.

first time poster, was looking for the same answer... then I figured out how to do it, figured I would register and share

if you want to use any advanced feature here is how you can make it black for real,

make your theme how you want it minus the touchpad color...
    save it

now open the theme file you just made, (ath file in your themes folder)

find this section of code (about a third of the way down)

    Actions
    ZoneID 8/ZoneID
    ActionID 8/ActionID
    ActionTypeID 3/ActionTypeID
    Color1 #FF0000F0/Color1
    Color2 #FF000000/Color2
    Duration 0/Duration
    /Actions

delete this section, save, open in alienware command, and enjoy

sorry for not posting the code exactly as it is seen, I can't figure out how to post it
I also would upload a basic theme minus the touchpad, but it wont let me attach ath file :-\
