Looking at Dell Outlet for a 14" model and saw one for $1715 OTD w/ 4 year accidental 765M 80GB SSD 1TB HD and i5-4200 w/ 1080p . Already paid $2500 for the Alienware 13 and it looks like that's going to be a long wait + people are saying the 8xx series are horrible. Does this look like the better option? Trying to surprise wife for B-Day next month. I want to get into her FFXIV which should play great on it IMO. Trying to pull trigger ASAP. Thanks.

The 860M will outperform the 765M by about 20% (maybe more) depending on the game. The major flaw everyone is complaining about is the CPU, which is soldered i5 (dual-core). That said, I think that's a good price for the AW 14. If anything should go wrong in the next 4 years, and you need a system replacement, they'll most likely give you an AW 13 as a replacement if the AW 14's are discontinued. ;)

This guy purchased an AW 14 from the Outlet. He is satisfied. The system appears to be in excellent condition.

I would go for the one that better fits the needs of your wife. The size difference could be important for her. The Alienware 13 will certainly perform better in games, but those extra 4 yrs of accidental coverage make a great deal.

I too bought an Alienware 14 through the Dell outlet. So far, I'm quite satisfied with the computer. However, there was one issue with the system. On the back of the computer, right next to the vent, a corner piece of plastic is missing.

Just an update. Works well. Pretty happy with purchase. Just ordered a Razer Blade as well for myself.
