Im planning on switching over from my M11x R1 to the M14x

will this setup run BF3 at 35+ frames on 64 man servers?

Not on max settings or anything.

I mean, the beta is out now (almost over), and it's supposedly only running "Medium" graphics, and I can only get that much on the 32 man games.

So, while you probably can, it's not a good idea to use "Ultra" or anything. Mainly since the recommended graphics card is the GTX560.

If you talking about laptop, dont compare it to desktop, because desktop is always more powerful than laptop if you take the same hardware to compare.

You would be able to run it at Medium (Max resolution, no AA) but would only get 30fps or less, however if you lower the res and overclock the GT555M, you might be able to play it at high at 30fps or lower.

I've been playing 64 player Caspian with that setup, and get 25-35 FPS, which is tolerable. All settings are High, with native res.

Well, the setting in Beta according to the Dev's Blog and twitters, he said all setting is set to Low, even the setting menu show high or Ultra, it is just Low, and it is because of they only intend to test their server capacity not the performance of the game nor the graphical setting.

So whatever setting you on, it is just Low. And I also did a test, Low, Medium, High and Ultra, all look the same.

I have the same setup as the original poster. I've played the beta for caspian border on medium/high and it runs great. Don't worry you will be fine.

I've heard a different story, which is that Ultra setting is really High setting, and everything else is accurately reflected on the real game (Med is Med, High is High, etc...)

Do you have any link to your claim (just out of curiosity)?

Well looking on google and doing some research, no where does it indicate that the Beta is on "Low" graphics all that was said from the lead designer (which was on twitter) was the "Beta did not reflect the final versions graphics".

I think along those lines of the gossip train someone decided to throw the word "low" or "medium" in there. From that small statement I think he just implied that the High and Ultra settings were not fine tuned, but that is just me.

One thing is for certain, the requirements and recommended system specs for BF3 are final. Look at those and determine for yourself. I have basically a base model M14x and from seeing the recommended specs, I believe we can play BF3 on high with a little tweaking and a smooth frame rate.

Maybe at a 1366x768 you'll run medium settings great, and high settings okay. Me personally, I don't like my fps to be around 30, because when the fighting starts, it will dip considerably, especially on a highly populated server. I ran the beta at high settings on 1366x768, and it was barely okay, except for when it gets really intense, then you'll start to lag. Nvidia requires that you have at least a gtx 560 lol, idk if that's some marketing bs though.

Barely okay? I ran the beta at full 900p on High and managed about 29-31 FPS the whole time.

    Maybe an OC would help

I think that's the core problem. You have to OC a bit to get decent performance on high. My OC setting is 750/1500/1080.

Well mine wasn't overclocked at that time. When OC'd, I can sometimes reach 40FPS.

Well, you can choose to not OC it, but it will be run smoothly IF you're outside intense combat, because you're like in a dogfight it will be drip the fps dramatically. But if you OC it, it might not happen during that battle.
