I checked the Dell site and they say they don't have drivers for windows 10. I mainly use the laptop for gaming while away from home and it still has original drivers and windows 7.

Is it possible to upgrade to windows 10?

It is possible, but we do not recommend it. Why? Because, as you said, there are no drivers.

You can still do the upgrade, but you will have to source the drivers from the component's manufacturers websites.

I went from windows 7 to 10 and had no issues but performance was crap. I did a clean install and that made a huge difference. Only issue was sounds and for that I used windows 8.1 drivers. No issues in the end after sourcing drivers and installing manually in the correct order.

    Problems with this:
Windows 10 will break your sound driver repeatedly everytime a major update comes through and you'll have to reload the dell one
    Performance is lower
    Hotkey functions do not work

Other than those issues it will work ok

You may know this but just in case, you can prevent Windows from installing drivers via Windows Updates.

Sure you can. I got a free Windows 10 update for my M14X R1. I've registered for it (using much annoying popup on task bar) then did fresh installation and used windows 7 activation key and it worked. But there was lot of problems with drivers and machine was running a bit hot than usual so reverted back to Windows 7. Point is I still have valid copy of Windows 10 which sort of works.
You must remember I did this all in April 2016.
