    Hi All,

I received a call from Dell offering an upgrade for my warranty. Is this legit / common? Anyone experienced this before? Asking because there was a report on the news about people using warranty offers to hack into people's computers and/or get credit card info.

    Thanks!

I know you get mail notifications prior to the expiration of your warranty - not sure if they call, though.

I got a call the other day aswell, about if I wanted to extend my warranty, they were real pushy towards me to get it, and I kept saying I was not interested. They stopped pressuring me until I told them its either free or i dont want it.

I received a phone call, from Dell, regarding a warranty upgrade near the end of my warranty (less then 30days remaining on my m17xr3).
I think they were offering it at 60% discount and I noticed the dell website also displayed a noticeable price reduction, for warranty extensions.
That appears to be legit to me. After explaining I sold my M17xR3 the Dell rep. offered to extend warranties on other dell laptops that have been purchased at my address (ie. she seemed aware of laptops that my mother and sister have ordered as well).
The only thing is I'm not much for warranties (maybe on an m18x I would) so I didn't pick one up.

I got the call a few time also, I tell them that I am buying a new laptop and putting the old one into server use. they usually dont push after you tell them you are buying a new laptop to replace the out of warranty one.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I've only had my m14x for about a month now. The rep called and, yes, was very pushy about me upgrading the warranty. The funny thing was that she said it was a one-time-only chance to upgrade. After much back and forth, I told her I wasn't ready to spend that much money. She said she'd give me more time and call back in a day or two. So much for the one-time-only chance!
