It seems like that the M15x is much much bigger. I currently own one, but man the M15x is quite a bit larger and heavier lol.

Mostly due to the heatsinks that had to be employed for the discreet graphics cards. They added a ton of weight.

I am abit worried about the UK Cnet review.. they commented about the quality of the laptop for example keys not springing back up.. Seems like the M14x is getting of to a bad start :C

What worried me about the CNET UK review was their mention of the display not being very bright. I noticed in the Engadget pictures the screen close-ups seemed dimmer than normal, even accounting for the camera's auto-adjustments.

CNET as a whole is horrible. Their reviews make it seem as though they've just opened the products and going off first impressions.

All he talked about were the specs. No mention of gaming statistics, battery life, heat, noise, etc. They may as well just link us to the m14x homepage, as that is just as "informative."

At least LaptopMag got their hands on it and did a good review on it. Alienware M14x Review - A Review of the Alienware M14x

Cnet's laptop reviews are fairly poor in general. I always look at laptopmag and notebookcheck. The latter does a very detailed review, and I always find them to be informative.

Ethernet port is on the left side, less than ideal when a mouse is plugged in.

That was also the 1366x768 panel that they used in the review. I'd imagine that most people would go for the upgraded 1600x900 screen, and from another review that I've seen it's actually apparently good (in terms of quality; they didn't say anything about brightness).

Agreed. They do extremely detailed reviews that a tech lover can appreciate. Both of those CNET reviews were horrible in terms of their testing methods and the details they actually put in.

I have to admit, despite notebook check having unreliable comparison benchmarks, their reviews of notebooks are some of the most detailed ones on the internet. Most reviews are painfully general (stuff like "games run well and the screen looks great") or just retell you the specs.

So are they planning to do one on the M14X in the near future? (near future as in within two weeks)

I love the biased comment under the video. Already using this laptop before 22nd for 2 weeks and cost $2700? And display is good compared to mac? I remember some guys criticized the screen dell used on m11x R3

CNET's review was terrid IMO. So far, they're all missing one thing. They all have this great machine, but instead of maybe doing a video for us they just TELL us what fps they get with their i5 machine. Can't we just see a crysis video already :C

the thing with cnet laptop reviews is that its focused on looks and battery life.
performance seems like an afterthought to these guys.

CNET's reviews are trivial and uninformative. They just open the box, look at the product, and decide what they like/don't like aesthetically.

I highly doubt they do any kind of "testing." That's what real tech sites like this or countless others are for. CNET is for, well, people who just want to be told what to buy.

I think they search the floors for the "guy" that fits the "HIP" look and gives him a script to read.. nothing more.

(being the sarcastic jokster I am) I would probably say his online persona is called CHILITO SUAVE.

Cnet review = I want my 3 minutes back!
