Is the SSD Dell offers Sata III and is it better then the Vertex 3?

If I do the upgrade myself I just need to clone the HDD that comes with the laptop to the new SSD I buy, correct?

How do I deal with partition sizes considering the HDD that comes with it will be of a bigger size?

Prices will be the around the same, except the SSD I buy by myself should get better benchmarks and overall better speeds.
