I am supposed to get a new replacement M14X,I had quite a few issues that dell couldn't repair and the last time out the tech broke a few things. I am curious If any one has or knows about the m14x with the built in wihd tech.I tried searching the forums and we all know how that turns out.Lol. Any info or recommendation will be Rep +.I didn't ask for this dell gave it to me along with a few upgrades so I am hoping all work out.I see I need a reciever for the signal from the laptop. And I know it's basic functionality from google and doing some research. But I never rely soley on places where any body with internet can give a misguided review. On here I trust NBR since we have model specific experience and much appreciated owners who help each other. Thanks all.

Just some back ground..Before anyone tells me I don't need the 2860/3gb,gpu or WI.HD.... Dell upgraded all without me even knowing, until I got my order # email.Lol,It.s crazy, I could've begged for a $20.00 dollar piece, and got nothing, meanwhile Dell just checked the top box on everything and sent out a conf #...Go figure....Lol

I have the SiBeam WiHD. I like it. It works really well. I've used it to show YouTube videos to the whole family, and full length movies. I've played Left 4 Dead on it without any issues or delay at all. I know the Intel wireless HD has some delay in it that causes issues when gaming. It works like adding a second monitor. You can clone or span the display, and make it the primary or secondary display.

It did go out one day because I had the footrest up on the couch and the dog jumped up and laid down on my legs, blocking the transmitter. It doesn't go out when people walk between the transmitter and receiver though.

I have the Vizio receiver. I don't think that's the one Dell is offering anymore, though you can get it on Amazon's site.

Thank's for replying Kynlore, I did a bit of the common sense googling,I heard what your saying about your dog(well not YOUR dog)lol, but about the line of sight issue,I would think since I just bought a samsung 50 inch,I would love to see games and video's on that,And I'm one of those tech crazy people that put that big a$$ tv in my bedroom.I saw the sibeam reciever on dell's site for 99 us,It only has 1 person review Not worried about review, just the limited inf o_Other than that it looks good and according to a few different sites one saying "the best WI-HD Box We've ever used.I wanted to hear from NBR people like you first.Overall Iv'e read good and bad on the vizio and tbh I don,t like their tv's.That's another reason I was looking at dells site at the zyxel aero beam,I think,it's early.Lol.What do you think of my setup with the vizio? The pic quality is good you said, that's a plus and lag is from intel's reciever you say on games, that is an issue since I love seeing games playing while laying in bed on a 50.It's awesome but the hdmi cable is a slight inconvenience, and I have a big Dog that thinks he's a lap dog.Alway's on my bed, stepping on the wire etc.Stepped on my control wire while I was gunnin down a few guys that killed me 3 times in a row in BF3! They had their backs turned in the office,on the rail map, and I had just opened up on them and boom my dog pulls the cord out.Lmfao.So I think this is a great tech. Thank you again.I Gave you a rep Kynlore,Thank you.

I don't have a Vizio TV, the wireless receiver is the one that Dell used to sell. I had the same reservations about their TVs as well, but I figured if Dell was selling their HD receiver, that's what I would go with. Though as I said they aren't selling that model anymore. I can't comment on the one they are offering now.

I have a LG 47" TV. The Vizio works fine with mine. It can accept 3 or 4 device (it isn't in front of me right now), and is auto-switching. I can't see any issue with the receiver, with your set-up. If anything there may need to be some fine-tuning between the laptop and TV for contrast or color, or something like that. I don't really think that has anything to do with the WiHD though.

Thanks again Kylnore I gave you a plus rep,I saw the new one now on dell zyxel sibeam for 99.00 with 4 hdmi and optical out also.I would just use it on my sammy 50,I do now but the hdmi wire does cause some problems since its not like running cat 5 cable.I have to use the plug in and lay on the bed method. So even though I didn't order the WI HD it's looking better and better to me.Nothing like gaming on a big screen, even youtube as you said.I'm psyched. It just went into production yesterday. :D No edd yet. :(

Thanks for the link,I hate the search on here.I'm just looking into it since dell is giving it to me,I started doing my research,so far it seams the zyxel aerobeam for 99.00 is the best rated real world use,It's still pretty new so info can be inconclusive online.I think it's going to be pretty cool,I saw a new firmware update and it,s supposedly zero lag on gaming, and movies.I remember widi I know it's different but in the beginning some gamer's had bad lag. This new sibeam combo looks alot better already, even at launch. After a driver update or patch I,m sure it,s going to be a great technology.

I know what your talking about. I spent hours searching for information on WiHD (WirelessHD) once I made the desicion to buy a M14x. The web site for the WirelessHD consortium seems out of date. I talked to a Sony rep about WiHD but they didn't understand what I was asking and kept refering to WiFi.

I got the Aerobeam that Dell/Alienware sent me. Took me about 5 minutes to setup and use for the first time. But I haven't used it since. Eventually I'll use it regularly.

Thank you KD,I know the info is scarce at best and dont you just love reps that dont have a clue on a feature that in my case is one of the main details it's even emphasized on the alienware page as a huge sales feature.I am waiting for my replacement then I'll have the escallation team give me the aerobeam I heard its the best for my system.I will use it regularly,I hate having to look at the 14in screen after watching a 50 inch plasma that has game mode it gives the panel a real no lag experience, and besides the picture quality, there's nothing like gaming on a new flat 50. :D :D
