I bought my M14xR2 just 2 weeks ago. Was in a hurry so I didn't check it thoroughly, just the usual power on and stuff.

Just today I noticed this popping sound the cracking sound the subwoofer is making especially in music with lots of bass.

Is it broken or is it software (drivers) related?

Play some music with bass. and touch the base plate right underneath touchpad area. if you feel slight vibration then its working just fine. Also put your ears next to tine slots right there and hear carefully to check if popping sound is really coming from there or somewhere else ( most like busted speakers)

Hi mogz, if after following the steps nuaron suggested; you find that the speaker is definitely not functioning correctly. Send an email to [email protected] including your name, phone number and service tag and we'll be more than glad to have this fixed for you. I might have a similar problem, when I set the equalizer to low frequency pass, cracking sound is getting really bad, and it's coming from underneath the laptop (right below the touchpad).
I seem to be having a lot of problems with brand new laptops. First I had to replace a defective screen on my brand new M17x R4, and now M14x R2 is acting up. Honestly I expected a better quality from AW.

Thanks, I already called Aw support and they decided to send me a new laptop while they figure out what's wrong with this one. I'm happy so far with AW service it's just that I'd rather prefer to have a problem-free machine than problem-free support.
