04/23/2011 12:11:52PM Agent (Ace Rogelito L): "Thank you for chatting here.. I'll be happy to assist you with your concern"
04/23/2011 12:12:13PM Chandler: "Well"
04/23/2011 12:12:32PM Chandler: "Some people have said the 3gb video card upgrade won't see much improvement"
04/23/2011 12:12:35PM Agent (Ace Rogelito L): "sure chandler, fire away"
04/23/2011 12:12:51PM Chandler: "Do you know any statistics on it that might make it worth the 100$ upgrade?"
04/23/2011 12:14:02PM Agent (Ace Rogelito L): "its always best to get a high memory video card compared to lower ones chandler bec it will have more graphics processing units on it, if compared to a 1 gb video card, the 3 gb upgrade on it will spell a lot of difference"
04/23/2011 12:14:44PM Chandler: "So I would see better performance in games and such with the 3gb?"
04/23/2011 12:15:09PM Agent (Ace Rogelito L): "rest assured you will sir.."
04/23/2011 12:15:23PM Chandler: "Ok"
04/23/2011 12:15:29PM Chandler: "And one more thing"
04/23/2011 12:15:39PM Chandler: "Do you know anything about a possible blu ray upgrade in the future?"
04/23/2011 12:17:00PM Agent (Ace Rogelito L): "we will definitely have that one sir since the alienware is not only considered as a gaming machine, its also a multimedia powerhouse given the specs it can have"
04/23/2011 12:17:33PM Chandler: "Oh, sweet. What is the current upgrade on it though? I saw it has the stand DVD RW but theres an optional upgrade on it"
04/23/2011 12:17:36PM Chandler: "What does that do?"
04/23/2011 12:18:23PM Chandler: "Does it actually change the system or is it just software?"
04/23/2011 12:18:55PM Agent (Ace Rogelito L): "let me chech on that one, pls give me 2 mins"
04/23/2011 12:19:07PM Chandler: "No problem."
04/23/2011 12:20:13PM Agent (Ace Rogelito L): "thanks for waiting chandler"
04/23/2011 12:20:41PM Agent (Ace Rogelito L): "the upgrade is for a " 8x SuperMulti DVD±R/RW Slot Load Optical Drive with Roxio Creator 2011" and with a roxio software, you get professional quality results for your photos and video projects."
04/23/2011 12:21:14PM Chandler: "Oh so it's just software."
04/23/2011 12:21:26PM Chandler: "Alrght
Thanks for answering my questions"
04/23/2011 12:21:39PM Agent (Ace Rogelito L): "yes sir, its just a software, but you can do a lot of special and unique stuff on it"
04/23/2011 12:21:56PM Chandler: "Yeah, and so can vegas for cheaper"
04/23/2011 12:21:59PM Chandler: "Thanks again"

really, do you have to ask the rep about the video card?
-
I just wanted to see what they'd say -
Software upgrade to Blu Ray, seriously how much do these guys get paid. I feel bad when I call Dell and warn the person I am talking to that I am more tech savvy than their average caller. I called them out on the 16gb ram upgrade on m11x on Tuesday and it still hasn't been fixed. Most likely it is a definitely that they will release a blu ray drive for it. What the rep I talked to said in tech support, that there is a better chance to go buy one off of newegg than dell selling me a separate drive directly due to supply shortages in japan.

My bad lol. On second thought I am sure Dell salesmen have tried to sell bs software saying it can make you run crysis better.

Better performance in-game with the 3gb? I don't know...
"rest assured you will..."
Wait, I'm sold!
Good work contacting them, happy news about the blu-ray...no idea why that wasn't included initially. Those of us travelers needs us some blu-ways. Then again...I watch movies from my hard drive - digital copies of course, who needs the blu-say!
Blu-Ray is a "definite have" according to a Dell rep.
