I just got my first Alienware 2 days ago. It was lovely on start up, I downloaded Malwarebytes, and AVG virus protection, and the secret world beta client.

When I tired to open the client it said my video card wasn't up to par, so I downloaded Driver Max to get my drivers up to date. Tried to update my graphics card, and it said download finished, but it hadn't actually updated. I restarted the computer and while it still hadn't stuck, it still booted. I turned it off and closed it. Next day I turnedit on and all I got was the black screen with the white cursor.

I called customer support, and he had me unscrew the back, take out the battery, and hold down the power button, still nothing. He was supposed to call me back today.

    Any advice?

Hi you can try this troubleshooting.
You can also try entering safe mode by pressing several times F8 during the startup.
After that you may need to reinstall Windows to fix the problem. Here's how.
But before doing all that you can try just to press F12 several times during the startup and select the option that says, PSA, PSA+ or diagnostics. Run the test and write down any errors to provide it to the support person.

When I push any of the keys it just starts beeping. It doesn't start boot up. No alienware logo comes up.

I put the windows cd in, but now I can't get it out. When I push cntrl-alt-dlt the screen goes out, the cd starts spinning, and the screen lights up again, but its still black with the white cursor.

A friend of mine said the hard drive or ram might have gone bad, and I could try pulling them out and starting the computer, and that would bring up the BIOS, and if the BIOS came up,the problem was one of those things... Or if I did that and the BIOS didn't come up it would mean the motherboard might be bad.

Your friend is right, if you try that and it works, one of those components might be causing the problem. If you need a part replacement, you can reach the Alienware Team at [email protected].

I took out the memory and ram, and powered on the computer. The computer didn't go to the Bios, but beeped two times. Looked it up on google and it said that it meant it couldn't find the ram, so I put the ram back in, and tried again. Alienware logo came up, spammed f12, I'm running diagnostics now.

Said all tests passed. >.>'' I supose I just need a new HD.

Cavendish, I'd recommend starting your own thread to address this issue.

Hoodie, this is a common problem that those of us with 2 hard drives would see. The blinking cursor is 99% hard drive related, and thats what Warranty is for, Also, if you get it online, try updating the BIOS. Alienware has made a TON of SATA operations changes in the bios to improve stability.
