Hey after receiving my M14xr2 about 7 weeks ago it has been nothing but amazing...
Perfect laptop for an engineering student like myself, it does a lot of travelling with me and nicely fits in my backpack along with books.
I have barely been off it since ive had it and it still runs like clockwork xD

My only issue is, after so much use it does tend to get a little bit dirty...
The finger prints arnt the problem as they just wipe away, its more to do with dust and dirt in the keyboard and speaker bar, its really annoying and its really noticable in the speaker bar...
Any soloutions to cleaning the speaker bar and keyboard of dirt?
Any suggestions will be highly appreciated!

For the speaker bar and the keyboard, I would use a can of compressed air to blow away any dust or debris.

I have also spilled some coke on my keyboard..., only a little but enough to make they keys sticky! Any suggestions? Ive wiped it with a damp cloth but cant get under the keys :p

I like to use Cyber Clean for the external surfaces. It's basically some cold, biostatic yellow goo in a ziploc bag or tub that feels like those cans of slime they made for kids in the 80s. That stuff is awesome, you just press it your keyboard and peel it off. I wouldn't use it on the monitor though! Regular glass wipes from an auto store will work on that too.

You can always remove the keyboard to deep clean it :)

We don't have an official video for the M14x yet, but I thought this one should work.

Keep in mind that this video is a complete tear down guide. For the keyboard, you only need to remove the bottom cover, battery, and keyboard trim.

He starts removing the keyboard trim and keyboard at 3:17.

Also, you might want to have a soft material to avoid scratching the LCD back cover when you need to place your computer upside down.

Cheers I might do this further along the line, its only about 7 weeks old xD
I replaced my keyboard on my old dell 6400 many times, guides are always handy though!
Just want to look after it, its gotta last me a while! xD

I always put it in my wash-machine. I do some close with it so it doesn't get destroyed :p

You can buy allot of laptop napkins with some alcohol in it etc also dry ones. Dont forget to blow the fan out some times. It would be perfect to that every 3 to 6 months. The best way to do this is open the back (just two screws) and buy some compressed air. This is available ad every hobby shop or advanced computer store etc.

If you decide not to open it you can also put the vacuum cleaner and press it against your fan ad the back. This WILL increase the lifetime of your m14x.
