    Hello,

Ive seen some people repasting and have seen a lot of different paste's used. I was just wondering the best one would be for my R2
I've been looking at some Arctic Silver as i can get it locally:

I repasted yesterday and I used AS5 as I only had that and some ceramique stuff. It helped for sure and I'm now able to have turbo on the CPU and oc the 650m to max in afterburner with no throttling. Now I still have to prop the computer up about 1 inch so it gets proper airflow or it gets too hot. Gpu still went to 66-67 c but this was oc and it didn't throttle for some reason. With no oc on gpu it was down to 60 from 67-68. Also, I used 63 % ethyl alcohol to clean the surfaces as it was all I had. I recommend 90% or better. AS5 WILL work but I feel the results could have been better had I used ic diamond stuff. Also dells paste is like toothpaste!

okay, thanks! i'm wondering if anyone here has experience with IC diamond, or perhaps both? also how much will i need, the 9 dollar tube (3.5g) will be good for both the gpu and cpu correct?

I bought some arctic silver years ago that I was using until ICD did a free giveaway on the forums here. Now I swear by that stuff, made a huge difference in temps.

1 more here that swears on ICD. I can say it is the best thermal compound I have ever used. it performs far better than Arctic Silver, which used to be my go-to, well not being as difficult to apply as other diamond compounds. when I first heard of Diamond based compounds I started with Antec Nano7 which is much harder to apply than ICD, costs 3x more and seems to break down over time. by comparison ICD is much easier to apply and holds up better. The Antec Nano7 was like trying to spread play dough on my CPU. Until real nano-carbon compounds become available I will be rockin the ICD. Follow the suggestion on the package and drop to tube in a cup of hot water for a few minutes first. The heat really helps thin out the compound making applying it much easier.
