It's not the best mouse for gaming on the go, but the best mousepad for on the go gaming. If the m14x came with a mousepad, I say use that with any regular ol' mouse you have at home, cuz mine's doing wonders for me :)

Uh... yes, left handed usually hold their mouse on their left hand.

Logitech mx518 and G5 are both right handed, so I guess that's out.

Razer has a left handed mouse death adder. There are many mice out there for both hands (symmetrical design).

There is no such thing as "best mouse." It all depends the fit of your hands, your needs, and comfortableness to your hands.

I think there is no mousepad with the m14x :(

@sabricaze: No, all left handed I know use their mouse on their right hand, but yes probably some people do that...

It depends on each individual and their preferences. I'm using a 15bucks logitech wireless mouse and I like it better than my friend's ~70bucks razer mouse.

I'm using a $20 wired mouse that I got at Best Buy. It has the regular two buttons, a clickable mouse wheel, and buttons on the side of the mouse where the thumb and ring finger usually rest. I didn't care about those two extra buttons when I got the mouse, and they were only touted as forward and back buttons for web browsing, but I've found that thumb button to be really useful for gaming. I have it set to slow-mo in F.E.A.R. and suit change in Crysis. The ring-finger button is out of the way enough that I don't really use it that often.

Also, you could get a really fancy/expensive gaming mouse, but that's a matter of preference. If you feel that spending $60 (and easily much more that) on a high-quality mouse is worth it, than do that. I would encourage you to try a regular mouse first though, and then upgrade if you think the basic one doesn't meet your needs.

EDIT: Here's the mouse I use. It's symmetric, so it works for either hand, and I've found it to be comfortable. http://www.google.com/products/catalog?hl=en&q=Dynex+Optical+Mouse+DX-WMSE2&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=6088801572551133525&sa=X&ei=C7vQTdmSD464tgf0zKCDDg&ved=0CCAQ8wIwAQ&biw=1600&bih=799#

I'm using a Razer Orochi and it being a bluetooth mouse has been of great convenience when I game on the go.

The additional option of plugging in the usb wire for the mouse to improve its performance is perfect when you game at home too.
