I noticed that my battery lost 7% of its charge overnight, while the laptop was turned off (not in sleep mode). I haven't done actual measurements from sleep mode, but it seemed to me it lost almost 30% overnight. It is also set to hibernate after 5 hours in sleep.

Is this normal? My old laptop (xps m1710) never lost that much. I don't remember it losing this much charge when I first got the laptop (it's about 1.5 months old now)

Yes, I did search, but could not find anything related to this topic.

I have this also, charge drops 5-7 % over night. However, it does not bother me anymore as I took the battery out of the laptop couple of moths ago.

My battery drops like 10 percent when in sleep overnight, and I doubt it's because power is still being drawn while in sleep. I believe the excessive heat from the computer is killing the battery, so that it's holding less of a charge, which is something alienware either overlooked or just said screw it. Well that's my thoughts on it. A lot of people has suggested to take the battery out when you don't need it.

i think when sleep definitely drains battery.. the more ram the more battery.. cause it needs to retain the memory state...

i turned off battery charging almost as soon as i got my m14x. My battery has been at the same charge for a few days now.....Doesn't go down, i think it went up one percent over a few days even though it says "not charging".

i saved my battery as soon as i could :D

Hi, 7% overnight seems a bit high. bullet number 9 in the page below explains it good:

Try to use some of the free tools the internet has to offer to check for your battery's health.. a good tool is here:
