The m14x claims to have up to 5 hours of batt life. I set mine to power saver mode unplugged, the battery states only 3 hours of usage.

Is there anything I missed out at the configurations of the power plans? Or is there something else I oversee because at power saver mode, I would really want to push the system batt life as long as possible!!

Activities include causal surfing of internet/emails using iphone tethering. Playing of music and normal office processing. My build was in default with no bios tweaks or any form of overclocking.

I been browsing the web on battery for over one hour with power saving mode and almost of my lights off except for the keyboard and i have 4:12 min left with 86% battery left but i remove the HDD and replaced with an SSD i don;t know if that would make a lot difference

are you handling the optimus correctly? are you viewing anything that might trigger your GPU to take over? Granted I don't have this laptop or anything with optimus in it. I am just going off of what i have seen so far and I'm just trying to help.

I also think being on wifi drains your battery more.

Yup settled. On 2 dim brightness with wifi on and balanced power. 4h 22mins!

I forgot to tweak the integrated options to maximum battery. went max power instead. lol

On Power Saver, only wifi on (no blutooth or tethering), 1 bar above minimum, and Alien FX on, I get about 5 hours

    Yeah, correct.

Their claim of 5 hours carries the lowest possible configuration alongwith maximum power saving.

How much would be possible to get with wifi,bt etc off, brightness to about 50%, IGP on, all lights (keyboard etc) off? I.e how you would have it if you were taking notes in class for example and wanted max battery life.

Though people seem to be getting 4+ while browsing the internet, so I'd think its quite a bit more than 3 hours.

From what I've seen most claims of that length are using a brightness much lower then 50%.

Again, it was just a guess. I'm not sure how much turning wifi off would increase time. But my point was that it should be more than long enough for at least one class, probably 2 if they are standard 1hr to 1.5hr classes.

Alright, 50% is not set in stone tho if a lower setting is workable :p

I'm used to wifi being a big draw on phones and laptops, so I was hoping it would make a decent difference. Optimally 1 charge would get you through the day, and that's about 4-6h of lectures @ the program I'm looking at.

Maybe that's just wishful thinking, maybe not.

6 hours of use is probably wishful thinking. 4 hours is definitely doable.

Yeah, will be interesting though to see what people can max out on, I'm hoping that at least maybe 5h can be squeezed out of this little bugger with the right settings.
