So I've read about the shutdown problems with gaming on high performance mode whilst on battery.

How long does it take the battery to drain while gaming on balanced mode - anyone tried this?

Gaming on battery mode is limited since the video card is downclocked to about half way of it's original value...

So if you plan to play games like crysis 2 or BF2, don't count on it.

    Older games would probably run.

Battery Life should be around an hour or so...

That's interesting - that the video card downclocks on battery. Is that even with the performance mode set to high (forgive me, can't recall the name of the option in the Nvidia driver settings). I'm thinking of picking up a 14 and handing off my 11 to my son, but one thing I love about the 11 is the hours of blissful lap based gameage. If the 14 downclocks and there's no way to stop it, that kinda puts a dampner on that idea.

Also, (and I hate to ask the archetypical question here) - what sort of battery life are you getting?
