Hey guys.. i recently started getting frequent BSOD on my m14xr2.. at first i thought it was the new beta drivers i was trying.. so i rolled back to the old ones.... didnt fix it. I can leave my computer on the login screen for windows and it will STILL BSOD, sometimes back to back. Nothing is overclocked... and aside from trying the new drivers i didnt change nething else.

I uninstalled beta drivers from control panel, safe mode, driver sweeper ect.

    Any ideas? :(

off hand i think the BSOD says it was a memory dump... ill check next time..

    1) Anything connected to the Notebook?

    2) Do you have a SSD installed? If yes did you change AHCI to ATA or RAID and back to AHCI in the BIOS after resetting BIOS to default?

    3) Which driver is exactly causing the bsod? Get at least Bluescreen viewer and check which one is red and if its always the same one when the bsods occur.

More information would be needed to find a solution.

Still waiting for answer on question 1 since this is a known bsod issue of the R2. Also use BlueScreenView to read out the C:\Windows\Minidump\070712-14118-01.dmp and tell me what driver is marked red and if it is always the same driver.

Then it should be easy to solve. Go into your control panel and uninstal Intel Rapid Storage Drivers. Check with ASSD if below your SSD name stands now msahci. If yes problem should be solved. If there is still iastor please let me know.

iastor is the Intel Raid driver. You only need it when you have a Raid in your system. In my experience the Microsoft SSD drivers are more stable and compatible than the Intel Drivers. Same goes for many Intel drivers...looks like they are only good in hardware issues :p

Install Whocrashed then have it analyse the crash dump then google the result. However on my guess, it might be cause by the NVIDIA Driver just as most users here are having problem.

I have the default factory drivers reinstalled now, and it never ever BSODed when i first got it........ i find it only BSOD when i leave the computer idle for a minute or two. If i type or continually move the cursor it wont.

But ill try that program you suggested. I might just send it back to them...

Did you check with ASSD if your current SSD driver is not iastor anymore?
If yes you got a faulty cache drive maybe. Uninstall your SSD from the mSata Bay (its easy you only need to open the cover). Then resart your notebook and try if you are still getting bsods. If yes we can exclude that it has something to do with the SSD.

Since you said the driver which causes the bsod is iastor.sys it is probably the SSD. Since you said you uninstalled it which driver is now causing the bsod?

Dont ask Dell for a repair yet since they will replace probably the mainboard first which means to disassemble your whole notebook no matter what you say. If its only a faulty cache drive there is no need to dismantle your new notebook.

I also suggest you to use the Whocrashed as CGSDR told you. Maybe you find another driver which is involved.
