what I would like to do, is to get my M14x to boot of an SSD (64gigs) that I would like to install in the place of my optical drive. Then have all my additional stuff, (games, ect) Stored on the stock hard drive. I'm not sure how to acomplish this really. I think I could swap out the optical drive easy enough. But then i would need to download my OS right? and drivers? I heard alienware will let you download them from their website provided you give them your product code. And sign in or something. I just wish to know if its possible. I'm no expert and I'm bound to mess up on my own. I would like to know if anyone can explain to me how I would do this. And if i can. Thanks!

It's not worth it to install an ssd in the optical bay slot, it will run extremely slow. You can put a hard drive in place of the dvd drive, but again it will run slow and there are quite a few issues with it (mine wont boot with a sata 2 hard drive in the bay).
There is an install guide on the forums that tells you how to install everything, I'll see if I can dig it up.
Installing windows isn't a difficult task, it's as simple as putting the install dvd in the drive and booting off of it. Drivers can be found on dells website, just look under support and then downloads/drivers. Make sure you download drivers for at least wireless/ethernet before you install windows to make sure you can easily get online after.

Try running the ssd in the regular hdd slot. It will run much faster. In the caddy, i believe, i could be wrong, but its sata 1 speeds. that's going to bottleneck your ssd. If i were you, id just install or image the os, and some programs over to the ssd then use the hdd as storage.
