Trying to relive my younger days and want to play ps2 games on this laptop. Has anyone tried it. Does it work well?

I've not tried it yet but if my m14x can run Wii/Gamecube games (Dolphin) and Dreamcast (NullDc) games perfectly well then I'm sure PS2 emulation wouldn't be a problem.

Ps2 emu is much more demanding because of the original architecture of the ps2, it wont run nearly as well as Wii,gamecube or DC emulation. Although the quad core i7 should help considerably.

Good luck and let us know how you get on :)

Yes, it works well, but I've tried only Persona 3 and 4, FFX and XII, Devil May Cry 3, Tales of the Abyss, and Shadow Hearts 2.
All ran at maximum fps without Turbo Boost and 2-3X the original internal resolution of the game, with i7-2720.

    Hey Jostefan13,

Could you try Shadow of the colossus? I had it running at about 20 fps on my old m11x R2 at lowest settings, but it wasn't really playable. I have the HD remake on ps3 but to have it on the go would be marvelous!

Sure but I'll be flying overseas tomorrow so I'll get back to you in the weekend, if no one else has replied by then.

Okay so I tried shadow of the colossus, and it was playable at 2X native resolution, with speedhacks (VU cycle stealing 1 and MTVU on), some slowdown to about 40 fps while travelling around.
Only tried past the first colossi though, and didnt get slowdowns during the fight itself.
Should be fine with native resolution, if you dont mind the pixellation.

The latest PCSX2 experimental build has quad-core optimization, so it's more important than even to order an M14x with quad core ;)

the m14x will run most ps2 games pretty good. they still haven't got the coding just right yet so there are many games that are corrupt and won't hardly play. there are some games i can play on battery and it not hurt the fps any.

I was curious about the performance,
I downloaded yesterday and I tried with FFX and it runs smoothly ~50FPS :)

Time to start playing old favourite games in M14x.
