I was dying constantly at BF3 on my alienware m14x and was at the bottom of the leaderboards. I was doing bad.

When i plug it into my hdtv via hdmi cable i suddenly play awesome and the mouse feels better aiming wise. The color on the tv when compared side by side makes the alienware screen look saturated. Is the alienware screen colors supposed to be darker and kind of washed out?

Anyways.... why is that i play better on an Hdtv?

The colour or the saturation of the AW screen by default will look washed out, but you can increase the saturation by going into Control Panel > Intel (R) Graphic and Media > Display > Colour Enhancement > Saturation, for me I set it to 20, that would give a very rich and colourful colour. However, the setting tend to reset IF you reinstall NVIDIA Driver with a clean installation, if you do a over-old-driver installation then it will be okay.

For the last question, well that's goes down to the personal level, some play better with bigger TV, for me I prefer as close to the screen as possible, so I play better with the native M14x screen.

Well, mine also set to limited (Basic mode) by default, but I manually set it to Advance, though it is not that difference from the basic mode, you can try it yourself, since both basic and the advance mode still give you option to set the saturation.

I've just done this and it makes one hell of a difference! Thanks for the advice.

Now why would they not have the screen set up to this config as default?

Glad I can help, feel free to rep me up if you think it's helpful to you :). Well, it is by default, my HDTV also does that when I first bought one about 2 years ago, I had to set the saturation to vivid to get the best possible colour without alter the saturation setting.
