After doing extensive research and various digging around for gaming laptops and finding out that certain sites do not offer financing like Dell.com does, the only choice I have is getting an AW m14x from Dell.com - I have heard the horror stories about Alienware/Dell's customer service, etc. What are some of your experiences?

I want talk to the owners of the Alienware m14x who bought from Dell - what is the set-up that you have that you use when gaming? How hot does your computer normally get? I plan on purchasing a cooler for it, if I do end up financing with Dell for the m14x.

All help is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

i use coolermaster u3. keeps laptop around 60ish mark. helps being in the UK too with our bad weather. it will still get hot in certain places when playing demanding games.
no experience with customers services. i suppose it depends which customer representative you would get on the phone to determine your experience with them

How has the computer been treating you? Any BSoD or anything like that?

I got BSoD quite a lot.

I still get it from time to time. But the worst part is that All the drivers I've tried seem to crash my games..

So your recommendation is to not purchase an Alienware? What did you do to alleviate the problem?

I'm not sure to be honest with you.

The problem still exists. You can see my latest thread I just created.

It's really P***ed me off, I hope someone can help. It's more than likely i've messed something up though, so don't let me put you off, as there are a lot of happy customers. :)

    Lightning,

I would recommend either an Alienware m14x with financing from dell.com's website. The only issues I've had are overheating w/ my laptop, but the customer service is really top notch. If anything happens to go wrong with your laptop they will next day the parts to the company that will come to your place/business to have it replaced. I have never had any issues with customer service, because they do have a dedicated department for Alienware support which I do find to be quite nice.

What is your price range? If I could give a score for the laptop out of 10, it would be 8/10 my concern being only that it gets too hot, but I think that just might be my laptop, because other laptops don't get as hot. Other then that my games run nice with out any delays or BSOD's. Any other questions PM me.

Dell does offer 12 month financing right now for any computer over $1,299 and I believe it is only in the US.

Dell does have great customer service in my opinion, though the problem arises when people expect to much. It is all opinionated. Most of the time you only hear about the small percentage that are frustrated and disgruntled with dell.

Gaming laptops will always run hot especially with games that are Gpu or Cpu intensive, there just isnt enough ventilation. If you have a cooler then you should be fine
