Hi guys, I joined this forum so you guys can help me with my little problem, now let me tell you a story...

Yesterday I received a BSOD, one that I've encountered two other times in my time with my laptop for two years, and is a power state drive failure linking to symantec. As an idiot I wanted to determine where the blocked IRP was coming from and I messed with CMD in which I ran the command bcdedit /debug on and another one that focuses on working only with the local drive, then I continued to restart my system after I read then I might need to for it to work (I think that's what it meant) and after doing so when I got my laptop up and running it froze. Had to hold power button to turn it off. I've found that it may be time related because it freezes while I'm typing my password while also freezing on different times on the welcome screen (spiny circle thingy). The laptop doesn't freeze however in safe mode but I have already unchecked all the startup items and the problem persists, only, coincidently, Norton 360 remained clicked. I also ran system file check and have restored my system but still. Haven't had bsods since that last time.

    Cliffs:
    9f 0x3 bsod
Tried to investigate with bolded command in CMD
    Restarted and froze on startup
    Investigated some more
    Symantec looking suspicious
    Das it

I doubt symantec is the problem and I'm sure it's hardware but at this point I have no idea what to do. I luckily still have my warranty but I'd prefer not to use it since I am constrained with time, but if I do do you think I'll receive the newer model? I'm still with the good old one with 655gtx

Try to reset it to factory settings with Alien Respawn first before assuming its hardware. Most blue screens are caused by software issues.
I would expect them to replace the defective parts if it has hardware issues - you are unlikely to get a new machine.

Are you sure the freezing is related to the blue screen?

I've had the blue screen before and nothing has ever frozen....

Nvm I'm almost 100% sure it's norton, I ran bootlogging and the last running program was AFD.sys, led me to believe norton was the problem and surprise, I freeze trying to uninstall norton (in safe mode)

Just putting this out there for future people

Edit: factory restore and problem still persists in 27 seconds

    Crap.

Have you tried a PSA to look for HDD issues?
