Hmmm, I had this problem with my old m11x, I think it has something to do with the fact that it's optimus enabled. This is just a hunch but I would say that since the laptop switches which card is it's primary the settings also change.

Have you tried MSI Afterburner? If I remember correctly it worked for my m11x :)

MSI Afterburner is an overclocking utility much like Nvidia's, but gives you a bit more freedom and accuracy. For example, you can alter voltage, desired temp, and also force it to run settings at launch...and it usually does it better than Nvidia's.

On my Desktop for example, I have the voltage set to 1.0 v for my 580s and also told the program to increase fan when the cards reach 75 Degrees+ to any speed in order to either lower them or keep them to 75.

Read and Download from here :):

Well it should get hot, it's under a lot of stress.

How hot does it get? If it's under 85 C, you're fine.

My clock is near the maximum - 750/1500/1100 and the average temp is between 65C ~ 75C for the GPU. For me I use MSI Afterburner and It also sometime did reset, but if you have save it as a profile then you can just load the program up and set it again. But most of the time it will start with windows and auto-set it itself.

75-80 is perfectly fine. I play a lot, and my temps reach a little above 80 if running Crysis 2 or something. It's only if you start to reach 90 or so that you should be concerned.

If unsure, get a laptop cooler.

ha, maximum, my card is at 830, yep, and my temps are usually between 70 and 77, but i have had it reset on me before, to 590 and 203, it was a driver issue, update fixed it

For the 203, it is not resetting, it is the work of Optimus, it lower the clock when you're either idle or in a program where the GT is not needed, so it will either set to 203 or lower. And another thing is the GT555M has 2 version, one is the DDR3 and another is the GDDR5, so yours might be different from me.

also i just caught this early so so glad i did, if you game on ac its highly advised you REMOVE THE BATTERY!!! ive had mine for one month and my wear level is already 2 percent, but i have been gaming very often and very hard since its a new toy but over time the heat will destroy the battery trust me, its not always necessary but for games like crysis 2 that get very hot id take out the battery to be safe

I use the U2 one, because the m14x fits perfectly on it. But it's up to you.

But still, temps usually aren't an issue until you reach high 80s and 90s. Then you're too hot. It will still run, it's just not good for the battery.
