How are they? Solid? Thinking of buying an M14x and I'm used to solid, firm keyboards like those on the Thinkpad so how does the keyboards on Alienwares compare to the Thinkpads?

No one on an Alienware forum actually HAS and Alienware to post if the keyboard is decent or not?

I've had one, and I thought it was fine, but I don't really have much to compare it to. Mine was an M17x R1. There wasn't any flex, they key presses were uniform, light, good feedback, though not the quietest I've heard.

Thanks, I don't care about the noise of the keys I just don't want a flimsy keyboard.

I don't know why you're thanking me; I've told you nothing useful. I've told you about a keyboard on a laptop two generations old. It will probably be similar, but there's no way to know.

I get the funny feeling that our little subforum would be a much nicer place if you opt not to buy Alienware...

I have the keyboard from the m11x, which I though the m14x review said was similar. If that is the case, I never got the impression the keyboard or keys were flimsy.

m15x keyboard is fine. I find it to be easy to type on and little flex. There is some flex at the arrow keys. Typing wise it doesnt touch a Thinkpad machine but little does. Out of 10 I would give it a 8. Very sold, easy to type on with minimal errors. Keys can become greasy but a 5 second wipe off fixes that.
