    I was recently on chat with support for Alienware, and they confirmed that you can change motherboards.

    That was what I intending to say though you beat me of posting that before me :) , and yes nearly all of the tech support I met, most of which are no idea of what they talking about.

    Hmm, you can buy a m14x r1 motherboard now for around $200-300. I hope it's around the same price for the r2 mobo because if it is that is a DEFINITE buy as soon as the r2 mobo part becomes available.

    How about I say I am a Dell rep, and I tell you that you CAN NOT use an R2 mobo in an R1 chassis. That way, when someone gets their R2 and tries it out, and by chance finds that it is compatible... you can get excited for good reason. Even if he did have pictures of both mobos sitting right in front of him he could not tell you with 100% certainty that they would be interchangeable.
