Well, are you gonna be carrying it around a lot, or are you going to be leaving it in your room? If you are carrying your laptop around, you are more likely to drop it at one point. Is that what the accidental warranty covers?

I've never dropped a laptop in my life. Alienware's warranty process reminds me a lot of Apple's. Frankly, 95% of people are never going to have to use an extended warranty or accidental warranty and they're a complete and utter waste of money. Statistically, the time frame that most people are going to need it is going to be after the warranty period has expired anyway.

I got my mother a $2800 MacBook Pro (out the door, with tax). Those guys pushed Apple Care like it was a cardinal sin to not have it. "The hard drive costs $900 to replace but Apple Care is only $3xx yadda yadda". Frankly, if a $2800 laptop is going to die due to someone browsing the internet and occasionally importing pictures from a camera, then the hardware is complete crap. I suppose I could understand it if someone was going to be doing heavy Photoshop, Video Rendering and Audio Mixing for 8 hours a day 5 days a week. Needless to say, I passed. I'll take a $600 gamble that a laptop that "just works" isn't going to spontaneously combust. ;)

I avoid "accidents" by doing things like not eating or drinking around my hardware and making sure it's secure before moving it from place to place. Accidents can and do happen, but the reason why ANY company offers those kinds of warranties is because they're going to make money off of them. For $220 you could buy one hell of a case like this and keep the change to promise yourself to not do stupid crap around it. ;)

The accidental warranty comes in handy because basically everything is covered. If a key pops off the keyboard, its covered. The keys pop off quite easily. If you manhandle the screen and the hinge breaks, its covered.

I got an extended warranty before for $3xx and have replaced the motherboard, keyboard, and DVD drive so I think I got my money's worth.

As for my M14x, I got the 3 year for $279. Try to push for a bigger discount.

    Good luck.
