Hi everyone, I used to have a m14xr2 and gave it to my daughter. i really was looking at the alienware 14 ALW14-4682sLV so i went ahead and ordered it from a site(no tax). it was in stock when i ordered it and now its backordered. They then told me
that dell\alienware doesnt make that anymore and its discontinued but im confused because it has the normal parts of an alienware if i ordered online from alienware. however they did say there is a chance they will get more ..im confused .so should i stay on the backorder\waitlist? is this going to be sold anymore? i did research first and saw a few weeks ago someone on the forums say it was the latest model.

    Thanks for your help..

    Hi there,

Did you spec the mSATA 256GB SDD on your order?

I tried ordering a new Alienware 14 last week when they had a sale on in the UK and they shortly thereafter cancelled my order stating that it wasn't available (it took me a number of days to find out this was the actual reason). Unfortunately, Dell (despite sending regular emails) have been pretty unhelpful and (a week later) have finally removed the SSD on the Alienware/Dell configurator on their website.

They told me they have no idea if or when they'll restock it. I even spoke to someone in Tech Support who said it had caused overheating issues and that's why they removed it (though I actually think that can't be right).

Anyway, good luck with your order. If I heard anymore, I'll post again.

Why didn't you get it straight from DELL.com?

Yes. And the OP should give serious consideration to uprading to the GTX765M video chip (and possibly 16 meg memory).
