does anyone know what kind of USB ports i would need to get in order to fix my laptop? all 3 ports are going out (loosing pins, the plastic guide is broken out of one of them, ect), im needing my laptop for class so i would rather not have to spend the time taking apart my laptop to find out what kinds of USB ports i would need to buy. thank you in advance

To my knowledge, there is no easy way to replace the usb ports on any motherboard. All motherboards I've ever seen have their USB ports soldered onto them, so you'd need to replace your Alien's motherboard to get working USB ports again. Here is a link to one on eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dell-Alienw...ed-/182124746048?_trksid=p2141725.m3641.l6368

That looks like the motherboard for your Alien. Please check before you buy though!

Do the Alienware m14x r1 boards work with the GTX 765m model of the alien 14m?

Yes it is, but 200 is a bit much to pay for me, if I can solder in new usb ports that would be cheeper

I can't find anything that specifically says it's for the AW 14, but the USB ports on the 14, 17, and 18 look exactly the same, so this might be what you're looking for: http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Dell-Al...179916?hash=item44099ed38c:g:UTwAAOSwvVlZluO-

I highly advise against removing the USB ports on your Alien's motherboard and soldering new ones in unless you really know what you're doing. Even then, i'd still advise against it as human hands do not have the precision of a machine that assembles motherboards. You should just buy the second motherboard I posted a link to, as that has the same graphics card as your current one. However if you insist on soldering new USB ports onto your Alien's motherboard, have a look at the link in this post. If you go through with that, I wish you the best of luck and hope it fixes your problem.

I took apart my laptop and that looks like the port, thank you and I figure if I can get these ports to work I won't have to pay the 200 for a new motherboard, anyway I'll update this afternoon I bet the job done

Make sure to be careful so you don't bend the contact pins while installing those USB ports on your motherboard.
