    Hi all,

So..my sister picked up the new Alienware 14, and the speakers seem to be quite lacking in both loudness and quality when compared to my 14x R2, which (imo) has amazing speakers.
While I don't know about the specific parts used, the only difference I can really pick up on is the the software on the R2 is "Sound Blaster Recon3Di", whereas the 14 has "some Dolby software", which appears to be nothing but a glorified EQ.

I've tried setting the EQs to be the same, messing around with it on the 14 and etc, didn't really do much. For comparison, the R2 seems to fill a room at around 20% with crisp sound, whereas the 14 only matches in volume at around 40-50%, but sounds dull.

Wondering if anyone else has felt lackluster sound from their 14, and what they did to fix it?

The sound card and components are different, they'll probably not sound equal :p
Have you tried using external speakers? Do they sound the same on both?

External speakers also sound worse then my old M14xr2. When I "upgraded" to the M14, i was REALLY let down with the sub par sound system. Def not as good as the old r2. :(

I think the dolby EQ software may be the issue. Hopefully we get a patch, that can fix this issue. Its agreed upon across the board that the sound is worse on the current gen laptops

It seems that sound quality across the board is reportedly worse in the 14,17,18 than it was with all of the Mx variants. Kinda Disappointed myself as I to have a m14xr2 and will be upset of it has better sound quality than the Aw18 I just ordered.
