Looking at the Typo, Id assume the guy that wrote that was in a hurry or something to write the same sentence for all of them. Besides that, Why would it be released now? I would have expected it to be released in February or the beginning of March. But it seems it may be a few months or so. But then again he may be right seeing as there are new updates to all of the alienware laptops' bios to add AMD gpus, so who's to know?

I would love to see the new alienwares.

We have no info on this yet, but there is always a tease on the webpage so I would just wait until that's done to have a clear idea of when it would be coming.

A little sad though, they've announced the alienware 18 and 17 will contain the GTX880M, which is obvious. I mean alienware, full scale gaming laptop that is huge will obviously support the bet graphics card.

But the information for the alienware 14 would have been more useful. Especially with now competition on the market in terms of 14" gaming laptop. There is the razer blade which has the 870m!!, a bad processor (I mean bad, because there is the new ones like i7 4810mq, but they used a lot worse one). And it has a almost 4K monitor.

I personally don't like the almost 4k monitor, but that graphics card, I HOPE the alienware 14 will have that card too, otherwise I'm going to reconsider. Personally want to stay at alienware as a VERY satisfied alienware m14x r1 owner. And now I want to upgrade. But they give the information so late -___-"

If they don't put a 870m in the m14 is finished.....

    They probably wont,

While the 765M has a 60-65W power consumption, the 770M has 75W so the 870M will be around that too. And we all know the 14 isnt the best with heating, so we dont need more heat. :D

Apparently the 770M goes max up to 75W and lol I just read the 870M goes up to 100W XD
Though the 860M maxwell variant will have a significantly lower power consumption. But truly. How does the new razer blade keep up with temperatures etc. as the thinnest gaming laptop yet?

Edit: on the other hand there is no 865M (yet). So it seems bad that they will step over from the 765m to the 860m. Or perhaps they are waiting for a 865M and that's why didn't announce anything for the alienware 14 yet? Because alienware 17 and 18 are confirmed to support the 880m. So yeah, the difference in performance between the 765m and 860m isn't astonishing either.I hope it will turn out good, I want good GPU performance :(

Well im pretty sure the Razer will throttle as hell just as its precedessor. Or maybe its a nerfed, having lower clock rates or so.

    Yeah probably.
But also tehre are 2 models of the 860m. So if alienware goes with the 860m it's also important with what architecture he goes. The kepler or maxwell.
The stats of the maxwell ones are: (with a significant lower power consumption = also lower heat)
    640 cores at 1029Mhz (+boost)

    kepler:
    1152 cores at 797Mhz (+boost)

So the kepler one is still faster but older architecture, consuming more power. But the Alienware 14 still has better cooling compared to it's predecessor alienware m14x r1 (which I have). So 870M might still be possible. And alienware laptops are also thick. Perhaps if they added two fans instead of one sacrificing the DVD/bluray drive. It could be better.

I suppose you meant R2. It is most likely. Normally the new version of the alienware m14x always released each year in april. Because that is the time when the new graphics cards have been released. Since there are again new graphics cards of nvidia for the note books (the geforce 800m lineup), and with alienware announcing the alienware 17 and 18 will soon have the 880m in them. So yeah I think it's most likely that we see a new alienware 14 within a couple months.

By the way, I asked about this to alienware, I've been told they are busy testing with new systems and that there will be most likely more news about the alienware 14 en of this month.

Well the 17 and 18 just got the refresh. I would hope to see at least an 860m added which should help out and if its the maxwell it should really help with heat and performance.

pretty sure we won't seeing an update of the alienware 14. Have been told the 14 won't be getting a the 800 series soon. Another alienware expert told me not to expect any update soon :(
Just when I wanted to update my system, I hear this disappointing new

WOOT?? Now I'm confused. Just saw this on the alienware webpage of my country (belgium, and the pages are dutch). On the first image you can clearly see "Nvidia 860m 2GB"!!
However when I go to the page to change optional hardware I clearly see no 860m as choice (2nd image)

Nope, don't think so at all. First of all Broadwell has been delay. Secondly, nothing about the broadwell Notebook CPU's has been told/announced. Not even on roadmaps of intel. However on 2014 Q1 Intel did release Hasswell-e for the notebook as example the i7 4810mq and i7 4910mq.

But Alienware doesn't seem to bother using those for some reason.

That is for the desktop CPU's, and Iris pro is the graphics adapter in the CPU, as you know intel lately came up with the Intel Graphics HD series Currently mostly used are the one in 4000 series. there is also a few with the 5000. The Iris pro is the Intel HD graphics 5200 meant for the broadwell Desktop CPU's.
Again no news about the Notebook CPU's.
I personally don't expect to see any new Braodwell CPU for the notebook in 2014. Though Hopefully I will be mistaken.

Edit: forgot to mention. Beside the Iris pro coming to desktop CPU's apparently it did come to a few notebook CPU's like Intel Core i7-4860HQ and teh 4960HQ. So they have better graphics processing at the cost of CPU frequency. So the 4810MQ is still better than the 4860HQ. (they released the same time 2014 Q1).

    Hi all
Im hoping the new AW 14 R2 comes with fingerprint scanner like the iPhone has
just press a button no need to swipe like the Samsung S5 pone

& I wonder why they don't have Screen like the
Old Toshiba Satellite 5105-s901 did on the scratch pad (Link in my Sign below)
like the razer 17 laptop have on the side now

that would really be so kool

    I wish to add:
if they would make it Lightweight if not thinner laptop
and a Higher Graphic card like in the AW 17 has
    would be nice to have

I personally was never fond of a finger print reader. Though I don't care if it's there or not. As long as it doesn't look ugly like the finger swipe ones do. Also a placement that is not under the palm would be better too. But again, not eager to have a finger print reader.

About the screen. I'm not so sure. It looks indeed nice. especially when gaming or doing full screens stuff, it's nice to have a small dedicated screen to see some other stuff. But The alienware 14 has barely any room on it for the implementation. The replacement of the mousepad with that is possible though indeed. That might be a nice touch indeed.
