Alienware 14 ISSUES: Freezing, Lockups, Whistling.

I LOVE my new 14, it runs everything on ultra or high and is more then what I need...but since I got it, Ive had a sporadic problem come up. The laptop (usually during gaming) will freeze, all sound will go. Will not respond to any keyboard commands and a VERY high pitch whistling (think dial up sounds?) will come from the right hand side of the laptop. 9/10 times this requires a hard power reset.

Now, this has started happening (once) on a YOUTUBE video. I called alienware and they had me run a diagnostic but it turned out fine-so they said it was and recomended a full wipe and reboot of computer-which I did, but the problem remains.

Any idea what the problem could be?

 

Update:

So I called AW and they had me do their automated thingy where they take control of my PC. Found that CPU was around 65 C on relatively small loads and skyrockets on higher loads (but my laptop never feels warmer???).

So, they are having a technician come to re fan+thermal paste everything and if necessary replace the parts. While I think the problem may be more problematic then what they think it is, I'll do it their way for now and if this fixes it then awesome-if not then I'll proceed from there.

I've read horror stories, but personally AW has been nothing but amazing Customer Service wise to me . If anyone has any ideas what they think the problem could be, im all ears!

 

Don't worry about it, if the issue is worse than they think they'll just replace the entire unit. It might be a bit annoying but if you keep up on it you will get your issue resolved.

Hi all, just updating- after having the fan replaced I encountered several other issues, I wasn't on site to be with the technician so perhaps they were due to his fault-or pre-existing conditions.

Long story short :
Squeaky sound whenever you move laptop
Alien FX does not go on battery
Disk Drive no longer works

Now, normally i'd be raging and cussing-but again, AW came through and tomorrow a new technician is coming out to essentially replace every major component in my alienware (as standard procedure would have been that I send my laptop in...but being a student, I cant afford to be without my laptop for 10 days)

So, ill update tomorrow with how this goes, so far loving the Customer service!
