    Hi all,

I've had my AW14 for a little more than a year now, and it decided to start ignoring the power cable when the battery hasn't been removed. Last night, I was using it plugged in when the battery notification popped up telling me the battery was discharging and I had 3 hrs of power left. I tried unpluging it and repluging it in, but it went right back to discharging after a second. After the battery had dropped to about 90%, I turned the laptop off and left it to charge overnight. When I turned it on the next day, it hadn't charged a single percent and it still refused to run off the external power. I have now removed the battery, and the laptop works fine using just the power cord, so I know that isn't the part thats bad. Could it be that my battery is bad and somehow causing the laptop to ignore the power cord? Also, where could I get a replacement battery? Dell doesn't seem to offer them, and the only places online that offer them have absolutely ridiculous prices ($130-$200).

    Same here!
I guess it's a feature of the 'Desktop mode battery charge'. If you want the full charge back press the button 'Charge battery to 100%' in the battery meter setup.

My Alienware is 7 months old and my battery charges up to 65% and then tells that it is Plugged in but not charging. I was reading the dell's Alienware warranty and it appears to be that the standard warranty offers a battery upgrade for a year unless you have the 3 year warranty.

I do t think the extended 3 year covers the battery either. Batteries are considered consumeable parts..
